Mr. Terry Deremer, USPTA

Head Tennis Professional since June 2003

Terry came to The Greenbrier from Morgantown, WV, where he taught both juniors and adults for 26 years. Serving as the Men’s Head Tennis Coach at West Virginia University from 1979-1994, his teams were ranked #1 in the East from 1988-1990, as high as 17th in the nation in 1988, and remained in the top twenty through 1994. Terry was named the Eastern Coach of the Year in 1988 and 1990, with WVU tennis qualifying for the NCAA Championships during that 3-year time period. His junior players have been ranked in the top 10 nationally, and over 60 of his students have gone on to play college tennis. Three of his WVU players made All-American, and seven played professionally.

For the past 31 years, Terry has been a driving force in the game of tennis, both regionally and nationally. His strong and experienced teaching career, with proven results, makes him one of the game’s greatest instructors.

Terry is a 1970 graduate of Fairmont State University. He played professional baseball in the New York Mets organization from 1970-1974 before pursuing a M.S. degree in Physical Education from WVU in 1976.

Terry has two children, Pete and Kari, who currently attend WVU.
